Suspicious males outside several Schools.

A message from Insp Welch: 

"We are aware of a number of reports on social media regarding suspicious males near to a number of schools in the Swinton and Salford area, which is understandably causing concern and fear to parents.

Please be assured that GMP take these reports seriously and have been investigating each report, to ensure the safety of the schools and pupils within. We can confirm that the males in question were contractors working in the close proximity.

Furthermore, our investigation has clarified that the ‘beat the street’ app, (encouraged by a number of schools) has also created an increase of activity outside of the schools.

Social media posts, whilst helpful in some aspects, can also promote fear in the community. We politely request that parents and the community remain calm and report any concerns. There is no information or intelligence to suggest any school in the locality is in immediate risk of any criminal behaviour"
